Some people say there are no coincidences, while others say coincidence is two or more things that happen at the same time with no causal relationship that can be proved. Both are incorrect. It is not happenstance or an accident in time or space, and it can be proved.
The word coincidence comes from the word coincide. To coincide shows the agreement with two or more things taking place at the same time or space. The most important coincidence to consider is that which is between God and His creation. God and man are in agreement, and when we make this connection in our prayers, it shows in our lives. When we align our thought with God, His creation, which has always been there, becomes visible where before it was unseen.
That is what Jesus’ healings were all about. Making the truth that has always been there, seen in the human experience. This is proof. Others may not see this as proof but just happenstance, but when it happens to you, you will know it is the manifestation of God with you. Those that are interested will want to learn more about how it happened.
We do not physically see the spiritual creation as it is invisible to the material senses; it is not a thing, but what we see is the evidence. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things unseen.” Heb 11:1 Take love, for example, when we are affectionate, friendly, honest, kind, patient, respectful, share, support, and are warm and wise. These are evidence of things unseen, the qualities of God made manifest. Qualities like being able, alert, confident, focused, inspired, retentive, victorious, and wise are the Mind of God being made evident in our human experience.
I could go on, but I think you are getting the picture. What good we express in the human experience starts with the enlightenment of the human mind.
”John saw the human and divine coincidence, shown in the man Jesus, as divinity embracing humanity in Life and its demonstration, — reducing to human perception and understanding the Life which is God.”2
Remember the story of Moses and the exodus from Egypt? That was an actual demonstration of God with us. It was no happenstance that the children of Israel had what they needed when they needed it. God would not send Moses on this journey and not provide him and his followers with what they needed to survive.
When they were thirsty, Moses struck a rock with his rod, and the water poured forth. When they were hungry, the quails came at night and the manna in the morning. They were provided for by God.
“And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.”3
“I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God. And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat. This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, …”4
It was not a coincidence that two things happened at the same time with no causal relation between need and supply, prayer and manifestation. When Moses’ prayer, thought coincided with God, came into agreement with God and His perfect creation, the provisions appeared, when before they were invisible.
For many years I lived on poverty wages while trying to raise my daughter. I made enough money to put a roof over our heads, buy groceries, and fill my car with gas every payday. You talk about bare necessities; that was it. I could not afford a car, but one was always provided. My daughter always had shoes and clothes and looked great.
This was in my transition stage, between not knowing God and just starting to investigate the possibility that there was a God. But my needs were supplied, I believe, because I never feared that my needs would not be met. I just knew that somehow, someway everything would work out. I had never gone without before.
Then I discovered God was a reality, and I was his spiritual idea. I knew that God could not be in need; therefore, His idea, reflection could not be in need. Within two years, I was offered a job that almost doubled my salary. Four years later, I changed jobs again, and my salary again increased significantly. WOW, God is good. 😊 Well, you guessed it, I could now afford to buy my own car and see to all our needs. All was well.
As God’s spiritual idea, I always coincide with God. We are in agreement; I live and move and have my being in God, Mind. It is not an accident; it is a law.
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”5 “It is not well to imagine that Jesus demonstrated the divine power to heal only for a select number or for a limited period of time, since to all mankind and in every hour, divine Love supplies all good.”6
I feel like I have been on an extraordinary adventure, learning to live the life God created for me. At first, it had its ups and downs, like living on a roller coaster. But as the roller coaster comes to an end, it levels out and becomes smooth. Like the children of Israel, I wondered in the wilderness for 40 years. I learned that God does not send the trials, but when I found what I was doing was not working and discovered God and aligned my thought with what I was learning about Him, He cared enough to help me out. Now my journey is much smoother. Not that I do not hit a few bumps along the way.
Even Paul struggled with the mortal existence. “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.”7 The sin that he refers to is the belief, at those times, that he is a mortal and not the spiritual child of God. When his thought got back in agreement with God, the good was again expressed.
As I continued my journey, I found that I had to stop looking back. We, humans, tend to want to look back and ask ourselves what we could have done differently or if there was something we could go back and change. Nope, what is done is done. I found that looking back is counterproductive and prevented me from taking care of myself now. If I take care of now, my future will take care of itself, and my past will vanish.
I did not actually forget my past but, it turned into a memory of something that happened to someone else. It was not me. The burden I had carried around for years was lifted, and I was free. It was not just happenstance; it happened when my thought came into agreement with what God knew about me. Then I saw myself from His point of view as a spiritual idea and not a miserable mortal.
From God’s point of view, His spiritual idea had never been abused. Therefore I could not be suffering from the effects of abuse. When I understood what that meant, one at a time, those effects vanished.
In my human experience, keeping myself in agreement with God is not always easy. Many distractions try to get my attention and pull me away from God. That is why I found it necessary to spend time daily contemplating my relationship with God and who I am as a spiritual being, His image, and likeness.
Most of the corrections in my life happened more than thirty years ago. I am now on a maintenance schedule, maintain and improve. 😊
Learning who I am has been an amazing adventure that will not end in this experience, but I will get there. God’s man is eternal, always has been, and always will be. But in this experience, there are too many reminders declaring I am a carbon-based mortal trying to constantly pull me off course. But I will never stop trying. Many out there are breaking away from the idea we are mere mortals and beginning to see the spiritual as the real existence, and I believe that to be true. “…Christ illustrates the coincidence, or spiritual agreement, between God and man in His image.” 1
It is up to us, are we going to choose to live in God’s creation or continue to see and believe the impossible. I choose to believe that God supplies all good, and when we understand that as His creation, we coincide with Him, we will experience that goodness in our lives.
